SUKKUR: There was no truth in the news items alleging that Asif Ali Zardari had remarried, said the President of Pakistan People’s Party, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, while talking to reporters in Umerkot. He advised the media to stay within the norms of ethics and stop circulating lies.
Makhdoom Amin Fahim said Nawaz Sharif had no moral right to stay in power, and he should resign in the light of recent crises, including the petrol crisis. He said his meeting with Asif Ali Zardari was a matter of routine, but the media had put a spin on it.
The PPP president said he had excellent terms with Asif Zardari. He said that it was good for Sindh and its people if the Hur Jamaat, the Sarwari Jamaat and the Ghousia Jamaat got united.
He said his meeting with Pir Sadruddin Shah was a personal one and not political. Fahim said he had had very good relations with the late Pir Pagara, and now he had equally good relations with the current Pir Pagara.
He said his meeting with Musharraf should not be exploited for political advantage. Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Youth Affairs Syed Saddaruddin Shah said that Makhdoom Amin Fahim had been appointed president of the PPP by none other than Benazir Bhutto, and so no one had the right to challenge him. He said that Makhdoom Amin Fahim in his capacity as the president of the PPP had the power to nominate candidates to the Senate elections.
