PM Imran urged to exempt mosquesfrom utility bills for four months
LAHORE:Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman and Wafaq-ul-Masajid Madaris-e-Pakistan President Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to grant exemption to mosques and seminaries from utility bills for next four months amidst the coronavirus lockdown in the country.
In a letter to Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran khan, Ashrafi stated that amidst the prevailing Covid-19 lockdown, all mosques and seminaries were closed and donation to them from affluent people of society were completely suspended; therefore the government should grant exemption to them from utility bills for the months of Rajab, Shuban, Ramazan and Shawal. “The public has been barred from visiting mosques and seminaries; therefore, their administration are facing multiple challenges. The government should also take care of the needs of clerics and Imams associated with Masajid and seminaries and relief should also be provided to the staff and employees,” he added. Meanwhile, he told the media that seminaries and mosques use to support the government in every thick and thin; therefore it was responsibility of the state to take care of seminaries and Masajid staff.
