ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Saturday partially restored its flight operations to the United Kingdom.
According to details, a special flight carrying 327 passengers left for London after strict screening of the passengers at the health desk at the airport. The flight was disinfected before the takeoff. PIA will take all protocols necessary to ensure its crew’s safety, the spokesperson for the airline said.
The PIA’s spokesperson said another flight was to leave for London later on Saturday from the Islamabad airport. PIA flight 9701 left for Manchester from Islamabad and flight 9702 was to return to Islamabad from Manchester.
PIA was granted permission to operate eight special flights for London and Manchester. The government of Pakistan had earlier suspended all flight operations in a bid to contain spread of coronavirus. Authorities extended the suspension of domestic flight operations till April 11.
Meanwhile, two flights (PK 603 and 607) departed for Gilgit while flight (PK 451) left for Skardu.
