Coronavirus threat: Cops directed to adopt safety measures
PESHAWAR: The cops in the provincial capital and other districts have been directed to adopt safety measures to stem the spread of coronavirus.
A meeting in this regard was held with Capital City Police Officer Mohammad Ali Gandapur in the chair.
The meeting issued special instructions to the force after consultation with the health specialists. The cops were directed to wear masks, keep a check on any suspicious case of coronavirus within the society, in lock-ups and the force and alert the authorities. All the police stations were issued instructions to arrange soaps and sanitizers to fight the outbreak of the virus. Meanwhile, people liked the social media post of Station House Officer Phandu Police Station, Wajid Shah, who informed about arranging soap and water at the entrance of his police station so that everyone coming inside could wash their hands first. People asked the other officials, well-off people and market committees and shopping mall management to arrange for the same in their facilities and outside for the passers-by to effectively fight the virus. SP (City) Shoaib said the City Division police officials have been directed to wear masks and take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus. The people on social media asked the government, police and other government departments to engage religious scholars, prayer leaders, elders and teachers to convince the public to avoid gatherings, adopt the precautionary steps like not touching their faces and washing their hands and asking the entire family and colleagues to do the same.
ABBOTTABAD: RPO Qazi Jamil Ur Rehman directed the police force to implement the protocols set by the provincial government to stop the spread of coronavirus in the region. He was presiding over a meeting. Meanwhile, SSP Traffic Tariq Mehmood Khan distributed facemasks among drivers, general public, motorcyclists, and pedestrians as part of precautionary measures, besides handbills and pamphlets for awareness on coronavirus prevention.
