SUKKUR: A tragedy of sorts is in order following lodging of a robbery FIR against an Assistant Professor of the International Relations Department, University of Karachi, and his brothers by those who had occupied their property in Larkana. Assistant Professor Amjad Ali Abro, who serves at the University of Karachi, owned some family property in Larkana. While he and his brothers spend most of their time in Karachi, their Larkana property was encroached upon. The issue turned into a dispute when the encroachers refused to vacate the property and warned them of serious consequences. Soon they learnt that they had been named in a robbery FIR. Talking to The News, Abro termed the FIR as malafide, saying how could he and brothers rob a shop in Larkana when the whole city is under lockdown and there is intensive patrolling by the law enforcement agencies. He demanded the senior police officers to conduct a fair probe to clear his name and that of his brothers. Meanwhile, the representatives of the Federation of All Pakistan Universities’ Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA), Sindh, and Karachi University Teachers’ Association demanded the IGP Sindh to institute a fair inquiry and provide justice to their colleague.
