While we argue

The summit on climate change being held in Paris is important for creating awareness about this existential threat to Earth. Cyclones, record-breaking heatwaves, earthquakes, water shortages, storms, floods and rising levels of temperature have contributed to making us realise that the threat to our world’s existence is real.
What is alarming is that a survey, the results of which were publicised on the eve of the conference, has shown decreased levels of concern among people of most countries about environmental degradation. As delegates take their seats at the Paris conference, I would like them to remember what Voltaire famously said, “Men argue, nature acts.”
