Abusing innocence

Approximately five children die every day in the world due to child abuse. About ninety percent of the time, children know the perpetrator, and more than half the time it is a family member. Boys and girls both become victims at nearly the same rate, creating a greater risk of them contracting STDs.
The Kasur child abuse case has been one of the most heart-wrenching human tragedies in our country. Parents should remain alert when their child unexpectedly refuses to meet someone because victims are usually frightened to tell on their abusers. According to the Child Welfare Information Gateway, child abuse may cause temporary physical pain, but leaves behind deeper emotional scars. It is extremely essential that children are made aware of the dangers of child abuse.
