This refers to the article, ‘Which Musalmans do we claim descent from?’ (May 5) by Ayaz Amir. Notwithstanding the writer’s infatuation with drinking and wine, it is quite disingenuous to quote select paragraphs from the Babur-nama and criticise Pakistanis for not following Babur’s love of hard drinks.If the writer thinks it is incumbent on Pakistanis to follow a Mughal emperor then why only Babur? Most Pakistanis prefer the lifestyle of a certain Aurangzeb Alamgir – the great grandson of Babur. Why has Aurangzeb somehow conveniently disappeared from the writer’s prescribed list of our ‘role models’?
