In Karachi educational institutes are being set up in industrial zones whereas residential areas are being used for commercial purposes. The main reason for choosing such locations it seems is low property rates.
But since industrial areas are located away from the main city centres, students and faculty members face great difficulty in reaching there. Industrial zones also lack facilities like restaurants, shops, etc. Moreover, the polluted atmosphere due to industrial waste is a barrier for a healthy environment. In comparison universities in main towns are very expensive. The government should look into this issue.
