The deaths of five children in Balochistan due to spurious or expired vaccination have raised many questions. But the provincial health minister appeared quite unruffled in his press conference and rejected the claim that the deaths had anything to do with the anti-measles drive being carried out in the province.
The minster made an illogical defence of his ministry’s negligence when he said that another 18 children of Batuzai area had also been vaccinated during the same campaign but they were in good health – only seven of them were affected in the form of nausea etc. Is it not possible that the vaccination administered to the five children was expired? There could be many more doses that have been expired and are still being injected to hapless children of the area. The minster is requested to stop making lame excuses and take action against those responsible for the tragedy.
