This refers to the editorial, ‘Karachi attacks’ (April 19). The editorial rightly pointed to the grim reality of life in the provincial metropolis that was once called the city of lights. Recently, the vice-principal of a medical college has survived an attack on her life; the attack was claimed by IS.
The lines on which people are being targeted are rather blurred. It is difficult to paint a clear picture. There are turf battles between political parties, sectarian killings, gang wars etc. This phenomenon has affected everything that a metropolitan city should have: education, economy, people’s mobility and most of all their thinking.
