According to a research report, more than 22 percent children aged between five and 16 years are still out of school in our country. Also, 32 percent of the total enrolled children are in private schools. The statistics show that 36.8 percent children of five years of age are studying in government schools, 29.4 percent in private schools, 1.1 percent in madressahs while 0.8 percent are enrolled with other types of educational institutions. Thirty-one percent children of this age have never been enrolled while 0.6 percent left school after some time.
Moreover, 55.4 percent children aged between six and 10 years are enrolled in government schools, 24.1 percent in private institutions, 1.7 percent in madressahs, 0.8 percent in other types of institutions. Around 15.2 percent children of this age group have never been enrolled in any school while 2.8 percent left their schools after some time. Our government and political parties should remember that verbosity or tall claims will not serve any purpose. The centre and provinces should make education their top priority to achieve the goal of a literate and educated nation.
