KARACHI: The chairman selection committee Olympian Islahuddin has said that they would conduct two-day trials for the qualifying rounds of Olympics, scheduled to be held in Belgium next week. While talking to ‘The News’ on Friday, he said that the selection committee wanted to discuss the performance of the players during the tours of Australia and South Korea with the team management.
The committee wanted to see how much the players had improved, he said and added that their fitness would also be checked.
Some of the players were injured during the tours, he said.
He said the PHF should organise a training camp as soon as possible so that the players might get ready for the qualifiers.
He said the qualifying round was a big event for Pakistan.
Islahuddin warned that any slackness would throw the Green-shirts away from the Olympics for four years.
“We have been planning for it for past several months. At the last stage we should be more focused to get the target,” he said. Islahuddin said trials should be held at the end of the training camp.
