KARACHI: Masud emerged triumphant in the latest edition of the team event organised by the Karachi Bridge Associates (KBA) here at the Aslam Bridge Hall, housed in the National Stadium, over the weekend.
According to the results, announced by the KBA here on Monday, Masud, comprising Masud Mazhar, Ziaullah Baig, Hamed Mohiuddin, Hussain Jaffer, Tanvir Mazahir, Shahin Iqbal and Mohammed Ismail, won the team event by accumulating 63.36 Victory Points (VPs).
Ziaulllah Baig-Hamed Mohiuddin earned the top honours in the pairs contest by scoring 66.07.
The twin weekly events form an integeral part of the KBA activities as generally the pair event on Fridays is followed by the team competition on Sundays. There were 16 contestants in the last pairs contest while nine outfits participated in the team tourney.
Masud dominated the team event to become its worthy winners with their tally of 63.36 VPs, having outpaced other competing teams and returned home winning all four matches of the day. They defeated Deuces (13.15), Kizilbash (20.00), Hashim (13.18) and Foxy (16.13) to win the contest in style.
Anis won three out of four matches and claimed second position with a total score of 49.51 VPs while Foxy, with 41.60 VPs, claimed third position with its regular pairs of A.K. Bhurgri, Mohammed Zubair, Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi and Mohammad Azwer-ul-Haque.
In the pairs event, the duo of Ziaulllah Baig and Hamed Mohiuddin outscored fellow competitors and their score of 66.07 was the highest of the day.
Shahab Khan and Sarfaraz finished runners-up having scored 60.71 while Shaikh Abdul Muqeet-Mushahid came third with a score of 58.63.
