Foggy conditions are back again
Islamabad: Road users need to be careful behind the wheel in the morning and at night as the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast the return of foggy conditions in Islamabad and Punjab's plain areas.
Lately, dense fog had blanketed roads in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, central areas of Punjab and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for many days.
At some places, visibility on the roads reduced to as low as 50 meters. The Islamabad-Lahore Motorway remained closed due to heavy fog.
The inclement weather also adversely affected air and rail traffic causing cancelation of and delays in flight and train operations.
According to the Met Office forecasting officer, Imran Ahmad Siddiqui, foggy conditions are expected over plain areas of upper Punjab including Islamabad and Rawalpindi during night and morning hours in the next few days including 48 hours.
He said mainly cold and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country but there was a likelihood of thundershowers with snowfall over the hills falling in isolated places of Malakand and Hazara divisions, parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
