Bureaucrats, politicians attempting to derail 18th Amendment: Rabbani
Says Musharraf’s NRO was only meant to prolong his rule and continue as president, which was an irreversible mistake
SUKKUR: The Chairman of Senate, Raza Rabbani, has alleged that some bureaucrats and politicians have been attempting to derail the 18th Amendment.
Talking to the media in village Daim Khan Dhamrah in Sanghar after condoling with Senator Aajiz Dhamrah on the demise of his mother, he said that parliament had ensured provincial autonomy by passing the 18th Amendment, and it was the achievement of the democratic government but some bureaucrats and politicians had been hatching a conspiracy to derail it.
However, he warned the federal government of an agitation if any step for derailing the 18th Amendment was taken.Raza Rabbani said the federal government was reluctant to implement the 18th Amendment in its spirit.
Raza Rabbani said that being the chairman of the Senate, he would not comment over the privatization of PIA. He said that it was the duty of the Interior Ministry and Sindh government to trace the four missing employees of PIA.
Talking about the drought situation in Thar, he dispelled the allegation that negligence on part of the provincial government had caused the deaths of children in Thar. Raza Rabbani refused to comment on the arrest of Uzair Baloch.
He claimed that Musharraf’s NRO was only meant to prolong his rule and continue as president, which was an irreversible mistake, and Musharraf and his ambition distorted the democratic institutions as well as the country.
Talking about the assassination case of Benazir Bhutto, he said that very soon facts would come before the masses. He said that the Charsadda and Quetta incidents showed the presence of terrorism networks and the fight against terrorism was a long war.
Raza Rabbani said that the Operation Zarb-e-Azb had given some very good results, and that it should be continued till the total elimination of terrorism.Talking about the Kashmir issue, he said that the Indian government and its establishment were not mentally and politically ready to resolve the Kashmir issue.
APP adds: The Chairman of Senate, Mian Raza Rabbani, has said that the Sindh government was making all-out efforts to resolve the problems in Thar.He said this during a visit to the Daim Khan Dhamrah Village near Shahdadpur in Sanghar district where he offered his condolences to Senator Aijaz Dhamrah on the demise of his mother. He said the former dictator for his lust to prolong power had damaged democracy in the country. He said that all findings on the murder of Benazir Bhutto may be disclosed to the public.
Expressing concerns over the incident of Charsadda, he said that winning the war against terrorism would take time, but we had succeeded in breaking the back of terrorists, and the war would continue till the elimination of all the terrorists.He said the Indian establishment was not ready to resolve the issue of Kashmir.
