LAHORE
A writ petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court against private airlines for their ‘exorbitant’ fares in the wake of a strike by employees of Pakistan International Airline (PIA).
Advocate Imran Ghumman stated in his petition that airlines had increased their fares up to 300 per cent to take advantage of the crisis as operations of the national flag carrier is suspended due to the strike.
The lawyer alleged that private airlines had been fanning the protest of the PIA employees to fulfill their ulterior motives. He said passengers were forced to travel on ridiculously exorbitant fares of private airlines. The petitioner prayed to the court to order Civil Aviation Authority to take action.
