Charsadda varsity attack
PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) head Aftab Sherpao on Saturday said that had the federal government implemented the National Action Plan (NAP) in letter and spirit, the attack on the Bacha Khan University in Charsadda would not have taken place. Speaking at a function here, he expressed solidarity with victims of the attack.
“The Army Public School attack was a wake-up call for the government to take solid measures,” he maintained.
On the occasion, former candidate for PK-94 Shah Khizar Khan announced joining the QWP along with family members and supporters.
Aftab Sherpao added that closing of the educational institutions was not the solution to the issue.
“The time has come to act in order end this menace. The federal government should revisit its policies and take bold steps,” the QWP chief maintained. Stressing the importance of cordial relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan, he said terrorism was a common issue, asking Kabul and Islamabad to join hands to bring peace to the region.
“If there is persistent violence then there will be no trade and investment in the entire region.
The authorities on both sides should improve bilateral relations and devise a strategy to strengthen people-to-people contacts,” he expressed.
Talking about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the QWP leader said the federal government had assured all and sundry at the All Parties Conference held in Islamabad that the concerns of the smaller provinces would be addressed.
“Now the ball is in the PML-N’s court whether or not it keeps its promises. However, we will not compromise on the rights of the Pakhtuns,” Aftab Sherpao vowed.
