Strict security on campuses ordered
LAHORE
Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has directed EDOs Education of the province to strictly implement SOPs laid down for ensuring security arrangements of all education institutions in their respective jurisdiction.
He was addressing a conference of EDOs Education of the province here on Saturday. He said Pakistan was in a state of war against terrorism, adding protective measures were necessary for saving educational institutions of the province from becoming an easy target for terrorists.
The minister directed to ensure raising of boundary walls of educational institutions to fixed height and placing of barbed wires adding no leniency should be shown in installation of CCTV cameras, metal detectors and appointment of security guards in the schools.
Rana Mashhood also said the principle of using only one gate for movement in educational institutions should be strictly implemented and a movement register should be placed at the gate for writing the particulars of the visitors. He also directed that important numbers should also be displayed in the principal office, classrooms and staff rooms.
He further said rescue 1122, civil defense and other agencies should carry out mock exercises for the protection of students, teachers and local population so that awareness could be created among the people regarding corrective measures.
Rana Mashhood said that mobile vans of police department specified for schools should regularly patrol schools and their surrounding and in case of need, special branch officials should reach for security clearance.
