Road, Transport Management Bureau soon

The Punjab government is going to establish ‘Road and Transport Management Bureau’ (RTMB) to resolve road traffic and safety related problems.

Chief Minister Punjab’s Special Assistant and former IG Rana Maqbool Ahmed told this while presiding over a high level meeting of the Traffic Reforms Committee.

He said Citizen Facilitation Centeres would be established at district level where matters related to traffic would be resolved under one roof.

He said traffic jams would not be tolerated and relevant departments must improve their mutual coordination to ensure the comfort and safety of citizens.

The meeting was attended by Senior Member SMU Salman Sufi, secretary excise and taxation, CCPO Lahore, additional secretary home, additional secretary transport, CTO Lahore and representatives of relevant departments. 

Rana Maqbool instructed the authorities to engage the Punjab Police with Traffic Police on different areas of the city to resolve traffic mess. He said  it would help secure citizens from criminals and traffic jams as well.

He said structure of Road Transport Management Bureau was finalised. It will consist of two units at provincial level: Policy Unit and Technical Unit.
