Teams of K-Electric on Monday raided a number of multi-storey projects in Gulistan-e-Jauhar involved in electricity theft, and confiscated around 350 kilograms of illegal wires in action taken under Operation Burq.

The power utility announced in a press statement that the multi-storey projects were chronic defaulters and owed millions of rupees in dues. The projects raided included Citizen View, Piprany Height, Sun Beam, Yasir View, Al-Sayed, Hyder Height and Shazma Height.

K-Electric officials said the hook connections used in the projects included about 28 metres of a 35mm cable and 90 metres of a 60mm cable. Several residents were also caught red-handed and found guilty of stealing approximately 1.2 million units of electricity from the power utility.

In a similar raid, an Operation Burq team took stringent action against another multi-story project called Foundation Blessing and removed 88 hook connections of a 35mm cab;e. This project caused the power utility losses worth millions every month. The illegal connections here were removed on the spot and the culprits penalised.
