PPP leader Rahimdad Khan laid to rest

TAKHTBHAI: Pakistan People’s Party senior leader and former provincial minister Rahimdad Khan, who had passed away the previous day, was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Hathian village on Sunday. A large number of people and PPP workers and leaders and politicians attended his funeral prayer.

Prominent among them were PPP central general secretary Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, provincial president Najmuddin Khan, Awami National Party senior leader Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Senator5 Bahramand Tangi, Humayun Khan, Syed Zahir Ali Shah, Lal Khan, Liaqat Shabab, Member Provincial Assembly Mahmood Zeb Khan, Muzzaffar Said Khan, Syed Kamal Shah, Syed Zahir Shah Toru and others.

He left behind three sons Attaullah Khan, Asad Khan and Shahnawaz Khan to mourn his death. The senior politician was admitted to a private hospital in Peshawar after he was diagnosed with Covid-19 some 16 days ago.

He was then shifted to a private hospital in Islamabad after his condition deteriorated but the corona disease proved fatal and he breathed his last. Rahimdad Khan was a stalwart of the PPP and was considered one of the most senior leaders of the party.

Born on June 10, 1943, he got early education at his Hathian village and then did Matriculation from Lundkhwar Government High School. He got admission at the prestigious Edwardes College, Peshawar, to receive further education.

He was an active unionist from his college life and formally entered the political arena in 1968. He got inspiration from the PPP founder and former prime minister late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto leadership.
