PESHAWAR: A former military official has pointed out massive corruption in 24-megawatt Jabori Hydro Power Project at Mansehra and urged the government to take action against the people involved in the malpractices.
Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Saturday, Major (r) Saeed Khan, who worked as security in-charge of Ghulam Rasool and Company Private Limited, said that mismanagement and corruption had badly affected work on the project.
He said it was over Rs3 billion project but no one was present there to stop misappropriation and to check the records of expenditures and purchases. He said that if the malpractices were not checked timely, it would delay the project.
Besides, he said there was no record of the dynamites purchased and supplied for the project, saying that it was a matter of concern as one could easily misuse the explosives. The former military official demanded the chief minister to take notice of the situation so that work on the project could be completed at the earliest.
