Pakistan values its bilateral ties with Iran: Sanjrani
ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on Friday said Pakistan highly values its bilateral relations with Iran based on shared social and cultural linkages.
Sanjrani said this during a meeting with Iranian Ambassador Muhammad Ali Hosseini who called on the Senate chairman here at the Parliament House. Senator Kauda Babar was present in the meeting.
Sanjrani noted that Pakistan and Iran are striving for the development and prosperity of the region. “Pakistan and Iran are tied with a strong bond of religious, cultural and neighbourly relations which provide an impetus for enhancing bilateral relations,” he said and added international cooperation between the two countries is of paramount importance as both the countries have similar perceptions and views on important regional and international issues.
“The people and government of Pakistan highly value their brotherly relations with Iran and the fraternal ties between Pakistan and Iran should be further cemented and taken to new heights,” he emphasised.
Endorsing the views of Sanjrani, the Iranian ambassador said bilateral cooperation between the two countries needs to be further strengthened.
The meeting also discussed discontinuity of electricity in the Makran Division, especially in Gwadar. The Senate chairman thanked the government of Iran for restoring power supply to Gwadar and the Makran Division. He said the region's people are facing difficulties due to power outages and now took a sigh of relief after power restoration.
Senator Kauda Babar thanked Sanjrani and the ambassador of Iran for their cooperation in this regard and said the Senate chairman's personal interest in the matter helped resolve the issue. Referring to the forthcoming visit of the Senate chairman to Iran, the ambassador briefed Sanjrani on different aspects of the visit.
“Tehran is a friendly country, and this upcoming visit to Iran would help enhance bilateral cooperation,” Sanjrani remarked.
