Cop martyred as rivals trade fire in Mardan
MARDAN: A cop was martyred when two rival groups traded gunfire at Gujrat village in the limits of Chura Police Station, sources said on Friday.
The sources added the police received information that two groups were engaged in a clash. The accused Amin, a resident of Gujrat village, opened fire in which constable Shahzad Khan was injured.
He was taken to the Mardan Medical Complex where he succumbed to his injuries.
Later, the funeral prayer of fallen constable was offered at the police lines. A smartly turned-out contingent of the police saluted the coffin of the martyred cop.
Regional Police Officer Mardan Range Yaseen Farooq, Deputy Commissioner Habibullah Arif, District Police Officer Zahidullah Khan, former district nazim Himayatullah Mayar and others attended the funeral prayer.
