LAHORE:The Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) while terming the non-teaching duties being assigned to schoolteachers against the Article 25-A of the constitution has demanded the Punjab government revisit its policy to protect students from further academic loss.

In a press statement, PTU President Chaudhry Sarfraz, Rana Liaqat and other office-bearers said that instead of being in schools at the start of new academic session from August 02, a large number of schoolteachers would be carrying out Khushali Survey which was great injustice with teachers and students.

They said over the years, schoolteachers had been kept busy in non-teaching assignments such as dengue surveys and polio vaccination, etc, owing to which students had to suffer a lot in schools. They warned of a protest campaign in case the government did not abolish this practice. They observed that the PTU had the right to seek legal remedy against such practices.
