Bisma targets improving upon her best today
KARACHI: Pakistan’s premier female swimmer Bisma Khan will be looking to pull off her best when she competes in the 50 metre freestyle swimming competition heats of the Tokyo Olympics on Friday (today).
This is the first time that Bisma will be competing in the Olympics. Her sister Kiran Khan played in the 2008 Beijing Games.
“I have practised hard and I hope to improve my personal best time,” Bisma told ‘The News’ from Tokyo in a telephonic chat.
Bisma recently returned from Russia after an extensive two-year training programme at Kazan and is expected to do her best.
She is happy with her experience in Russia. She also played a major event in Russia in April.
“Yes, I featured in Russia's national event in April which was very competitive and am ready for tomorrow’s event,” said Bisma, whose personal best time in 50m freestyle is 27.9 seconds.
Pakistan’s Haseeb Tariq has already competed in the 100m freestyle competition where he failed to improve his timing. Both the swimmers are featured on wild cards.
