ISLAMABAD: Peace and Culture Organization Chairperson Mishal Malik has said the Human Rights Watch (HRW) has exposed the dirty and cruel face of Indian authorities before the world, which unleashed a wave of terrorism in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Mishal, the wife of illegally-detained Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Yasin Malik, in a press statement issued here on Wednesday welcomed the World Report 2021, Human Rights Watch’s 31st annual review report highlighting the worst human rights abuses in the valley. She said the Indian government clamped down on critics, journalists and human rights activists to keep the world in dark pertaining to the widely-spread human rights abuses in IIOJK.

She said the supremacist Hindutva government imposed inhuman and strict restrictions in the valley to multiply the woes of the people of the occupied valley. She said that as per the Human Rights Watch report, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries faced an estimated $2.4 billion loss only in the first three months of the lockdown to prevent protests since August 2019.

The Hurriyat leader lamented that losses almost doubled since the Indian government imposed further restrictions under the guise to contain the spread of COVID-19 in March 2020. She said new cases of torture in police custody and extrajudicial killings highlighted continued lack of accountability for police abuses and failure to enforce police reforms.
