This refers to the letter ‘The result’ (July 28) by Engr Asim Nawab. The writer is surprised by the victory of the PTI in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections since he believes that corruption, inflation and unemployment have risen sharply ever since the PTI came to power. It is true that the PTI-led government has faltered on many fronts. However, economic recovery has finally got some momentum. Currently, a large number of people are being facilitated through the Ehsaas program. Unemployed workers, and those who were laid off temporarily, are going back to work.
We haven’t heard about any form of corruption at top levels so far. A majority of Pakistanis applauded the PTI when it refused to hand over Pakistan’s air bases to the US and to recognise Israel. These are the reasons that enabled the PTI to win the recently held elections.
