Minister for reviewing kilns shifting to zigzag technology

LAHORE:Minister for Industries and Commerce Aslam Iqbal Monday directed conducting a performance audit of transfer of brick-kilns to zigzag technology.

The minister, chairing a performance of the Environment Protection Department and future strategy meeting here at the committee room of Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) observed that the environmental study of transfer of kilns to modern technology was necessary. He said benefits of using national resources should reach people. The minister said a committee for mapping industries would be set up. The committee would consist of officers from the Department of Environmental Protection, Industry and Commerce, Urban Unit and officers of other related departments and the committee would complete the work within two months and submit a report.

Earlier, Secretary Environment Department briefed him on reorganisation of the department, Punjab Green Development Programme, e-Environmental Initiative and other development programmes of the department.

EID MILAN: Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Ejaz Alam Augustine has said inter-faith harmony is key to national security, stability and peace in Pakistan. He said this while addressing an Eid Milan party organised by the Department of Human Rights, Minorities Affairs and Churches of Pakistan at Presbyterian Nolakha Church on Monday. The party was attended by Rev Dr Majeed Abel, scholars of different schools of thought and religious leaders of different religions, political and social figures, civil society representatives and government officials.
