Nisar Khuhro says interior minister’s visit would be key to resolving the matter;rules out possibility of a forward bloc

Karachi

The Sindh education minister said on Wednesday that the province would soon reach a decision on the issue of granting complete special policing powers to Rangers.

“The provincial government has an objection over the authority granted to Rangers to detain a person for 90 days without the prior approval of the provincial authorities,” Nisar Ahmed Khuhro told reporters at the Sindh Assembly building.

He added that interior minister Chaudhry Nisar would visit Karachi and the issue would be sorted out after discussing it with him.

The minister said the provincial government was not against the crackdown against criminals in Karachi and there were no differences with the Centre on this issue.

“All political parties had reached a consensus over launching an operation against terrorism, target killings, extortion and kidnappings for ransom.

No forward bloc

Khuhro said no forward bloc of the Pakistan People’s Party was being formed in Sindh.

“There were alliances formed against the PPP in the past too and they have always failed. Now political parties, which have merely won a single union council, have joined forces to form an alliance against the PPP and it too will fail to succeed,” he added.
