Umar Akmal, Basit Ali exchange harsh words

LAHORE: Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal found himself involved in yet another controversy after his altercation with team coach Basit Ali during the final of Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Trophy at National Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday.

The controversial cricketer was furious over sudden change of his batting order on the third day of the day/night Test match by the coach. A TV channel quoted a source saying that that Umar Akmal and Basit Ali exchanged heated words in the dressing room and at one stage Umar Akmal tried to hit the coach. However, he was prevented by team mates.

Star-studded teams of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) and United Bank Ltd (UBL) clashing in the show piece final of Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Trophy at the National Stadium.The match is historic as a Pink ball is being used for the first time in the day/night match.

Umar Akmal is representing Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL), which is being coached by Basit Ali, a former middle-order dashing batsman.According to sources, Umar Akmal is likely to face a disciplinary action from the board.
