Implementation of monsoon emergency plan stressed

FAISALABAD: The Wasa officers have been directed to mobilise all resources to implement the monsoon emergency plan successfully.

The directions were issued by Faisalabad Development Authority Chairman Ch Latif Nazar and Director General Dr Faisal Azim during a joint meeting held to review the Wasa arrangements to tackle the emergency like situation during possible heavy rains in monsoon season.

The FDA chairman directed that extraordinary arrangements should be put on high alert on the main points to drain out rainwater within the least possible time.

He said that the counter check of desilting work of drains and sewerage system be ensured besides keeping monsoon emergency camps active set up at different localities of the city.

He stressed upon placing all necessary machinery at the trouble sites and said control room should be remained functional around the clock and immediate reaction should be shown to redress any public complaint regarding choke or overflow of sewerage system.

FDA Director General Dr Faisal Azam emphasised upon taking responsibilities by the Wasa area directors seriously and said that in case of any laps, the concerned officer would be held responsible.

He said that the leaves of the Wasa staff had been cancelled and the rescue activities of the staff should be visible during and after heavy rains.
