The water supply to many parts of the city has been at a halt for three days due to power breakdowns at the Dhabeji Pumping Station.
According to details shared by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), the city has been facing an acute shortage of water for the past 72 hours. Due to several power breakdowns, the water board said, no water had been supplied from the Dhabeji Pumping Station to the city. The pumping station supplies water to a major chunk of the city.
According to KWSB chief engineer Intikhab Ahmed Rajput, at the Dhabeji Pumping Station from July 10 to July 12, there were four major power breakdowns in the KE’s power system.
The KE spokesman said there was no power breakdown at Dhabeji, Gharo and all other pumping stations of the KWSB. It said the water board had its alternative power mechanism in case of a power breakdown.
