Six more fall prey to Covid-19 in Sindh

The novel coronavirus claimed six more lives in Sindh during the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 5,613 from the infectious disease in the province and showing a fatality rate of 1.6 per cent.

As many as 15,342 tests were conducted and 907 people, with the deduction rate standing at six per cent current detection, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in his daily Covid-19 situation on Monday.

So far 4,694,261 tests had been conducted against which 348,368 were diagnosed with the virus. Of them 91.2 per cent or 317,841 patients had recovered, including 174 overnight.

The chief minister said that 24,914 patients were under treatment -- 24,032 in home isolation, 822 at different hospitals and 60 in isolation centers and 58 on ventilators.

Of the 907 new cases, 652 were reported from Karachi: 260 from District East, 148 from District South, 92 from District Korangi, 69 from District Central, 46 from District Malir and 37 from District West. Hyderabad reported 52 cases, Qamber 33, Thatta and Sukkur 16 each, Badin 14, Dadu and Shaheed Benazirabad 13 each, Jamshoro 12, Tharparkar 11, Tando Muhammad Khan 10, Sanghar and Matiari nine each, Sujawal and Tando Allahyar eight each, NausheroFeroze six, Khairpur four, Ghotki two, Kashmore and Larkana one each.
