Barrister Murtaza Wahab, the adviser to the Sindh chief minister on law, environment and climate change, who is likely to be appointed as the administrator of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC),
on Saturday visited the KPT Underpass, Punjab Chowrangi, and Gizri water pumping stations to monitor their functioning.
According to a statement issued, Barrister Wahab directed the KMC, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and other relevant officials to ensure smooth flow of drains given the rain forecast.
He issued orders to the officers not to let the citizens be bothered during the rains.
Barrister Wahab directed the authorities concerned to expedite the cleaning work so that garbage did not accumulate anywhere in the city.
During the visit to Gizri, the law adviser inspected the sanitation arrangements in the area. KMC officials present on the occasion briefed him on the rain arrangements.
He said the Pakistan Peoples Party’s government in Sindh was trying to complete the cleaning of rainwater drains before the monsoon showers, for which the relevant authorities were engaged round-the-clock.
