Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal on Saturday said residents of Karachi have been forced to travel on the roofs of buses and Qingqi rickshaws while metro buses are running all over Pakistan with their tax money.

Kamal, who is also a former mayor of the metropolitan city, expressed these views while addressing the media outside the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Court.

He claimed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s federal government is being fully facilitated by Asif Ali Zardari, and in return Khan has given a free hand to the “biased and corrupt” Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Sindh.

“Both the PTI [Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf] and the PPP are fooling the people,” he said. The PPP’s “biased and corrupt” provincial government is not developing the province, but is rather busy in developing dynasties, he claimed.

He said despite spending billions of rupees, the PPP could not even save children from dog bites, adding that Sindh is no longer a liveable province, and is one of the worst places in the world.

Kamal said the PPP has benefited from the under-representation of the population of the city in the census, which is why the Sindh government is not raising any hue and cry over the snatching of Karachi’s rights.

He said over seven million children are out of school in the province, while the city has not been given an additional drop of water in the past 13 years, and not a single new bus has been introduced in the financial capital.

He urged the federal government to give the National Financial Commission Award directly to the district through the Provincial Financial Commission Award.

He said the administrative authority, job description, accountability and the departments of the elected local governments and mayors should be incorporated in the constitution by interpreting Article 140A. “Only this will solve all the problems related to the administrative matters of the country.”
