Jacobabad Police arrest seven accused after ‘PPP MNA’s approval’
SUKKUR: The Jacobabad Police on Friday arrested the brother and cousin of Sindh CM’s Adviser on Prisons Aijaz Khan Jakhrani and five other PPP activists in a case of attack on the NAB Sukkur team, after the approval of MNA Babal Khan Jakhrani.
Reports said the police had raided PPP’s Jacobabad office and arrested Azad Jakhrani and Wali Muhammad Khan, brother and cousin of Aijaz Jakhrani, Javed, Adnan, Abid and five others. The police shifted them to an unknown place, while the PPP workers protested against the arrest of their colleagues and demanded their immediate release. On Thursday, the police had registered an FIR against 200 PPP workers and supporters charging them of an attack on the NAB Sukkur team, when it raided the Jakhrani’s house.
Sources revealed that SSP Jacobabad Shamyl Riaz Malik had held a meeting with the PPP MNA Mir Babal Khan Jakhrani and told him that he was being pressurised by the NAB to arrest the attackers. Sources said the PPP MNA allowed the SSP Jacobabad to arrest the alleged criminals to reduce pressure from the NAB. They said the police raided the PPP city office and arrested seven workers in a pre-planned and dramatised action, who were nominated in an FIR against the attack on the NAB Sukkur team.
Meanwhile, the nominated accused, Zafar Ali Buriro, Waseem Jakhrani and Khadim Hussain Bhutto, who attacked the NAB team during the search operation of Aijaz Jakhrani’s house, have got protective bails. It is pertinent to mention that on Thursday, the Civil Lines Police had registered an FIR pertaining to the attack on the NAB Sukkur team by PPP workers and supporters in Jacobabad, including Zafar Buriro, Khadim Bhutto, Waseem Jakhrani and others.
