LALAMUSA: An acute water shortage has paralysed the routine life of the people here.

The areas, including Karimpura, Camping Ground, Hajipura and Railway Road, have been facing water shortage due to out-of-order water turbine for the last three days.

The situation has forced the people, including women and children, to fetch water from other localities. The people say that the tribune operator has repeatedly informed the high-ups about the out-of-order water tribune but to no avail. They say that the underground water level has decreased considerably, making it difficult for them to install turbines in their houses. They say that the water being supplied by the TMA through the turbine carries fungus as the pipes have become rusty. The water pipes are also leaking at several points, the people say, adding doctors have suggested to use the turbine water after boiling it to save themselves from waterborne diseases.

When contacted, Kharian AC Mian Iqbal Mazhar was not available. TMO Malik Shafqat and TOR Tanveer Gujjar have claimed that the water turbine will be made functional soon.
