2005 earthquake: Joint efforts pledged for early allotment of plots to affectees
MANSEHRA: Chief minister’s special advisor on population, Ahmad Hussain Shah, and leaders belonging to other political parties have joined hands to work for the early allotment of plots to the 2005 earthquake affected families at the New Balakot City housing project.
“This is a good opportunity for all of us to bury our personal differences and wage a joint struggle for the early allotment of plots to 2005 earthquake survivor families at New Balakot city,” Ahmad Hussain Shah told a grand jirga held in Balakot on Saturday.
The jirga was also attended among others by the former members of provincial assembly Mian Ziaur Rehman and Mazhar Ali Qasim.
The special advisor to the chief minister said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was sincerely working for the early development and allotment
of plots to survivor families of red zone Balakot at the new Balakot city housing project.
“This is a mega housing project which would change lives of the 2005 earthquake affected families,” Shah said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mian Ziaur Rehman said that he had been raising voices for the affected families for a long time.
“Around 14 years have passed after the ground-breaking of the mega housing project, which was initially started with Rs13 billion funds,” he added.
Mazhar Ali Qasim said that the affected families wanted allotment of plots at the New Balakot City within the shortest possible time.
The jirga also decided to constitute a 10-member committee to take up the issue with the government and district administration.
