Ibtisam lifts Captain Amir Shaheed tennis trophy
ISLAMABAD: Major Ibtisam Tuesday won the Captain Amir Ali Shaheed Tennis Tournament trophy beating top seed Rizwan Ahmed in straight sets at the Shalimar Club courts.
Ibtisam won 6-4, 7-5. After winning the first set rather easily, both the players were seen getting tied at 5-5 when Ibtisam broke through to take the set 7-5.
Major General Rafiqur Rehman Bangash was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony and gave away trophies.
Bangash appreciated the efforts put in by Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) and especially Inamul Haq for holding the tournament in the name of Shaheeds.
Former Davis Cup player Rashid Malik, secretary PLTA, announced holding junior camps and tournaments during summer holidays. He thanked the chief guest and organisers for holding these tournaments in Rawalpindi.
Tournament Director Inamul Haq thanked the chief guest and also appreciated the efforts put in by PLTA chairman Iftikhar Ahmed Rao and secretary PLTA Rashid Malik to support the cause.
All the trophies and medals were provided by PLTA. Inam also thanked Brig Arif Siddiqui and Major Khalid for taking keen interest in these tournaments.
