Kings seek playoffs spot in match against subdued Gladiators
KARACHI: PSL defending champions Karachi Kings are looking to notch a much-needed win when they face Quetta Gladiators in their final league game of the HBL PSL-6 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
The match was to begin at 6pm Pakistan Standard Time. Having eight points to their credit, the Kings need to win this game if they are to press for a playoffs spot.
Having recorded a seven-run close victory in their do-or-die battle against Lahore Qalandars on Thursday night, Imad Wasim-led Kings will have high morale and are expected to extend an improved performance against the demoralised Quetta, who have just four points from nine games.
But Quetta could pose a threat to Kings as they would want to record a win before heading to Karachi. The 2019 winners Quetta won one game in Karachi and one in Abu Dhabi.
Clicking at the right time may benefit the last year’s champions Kings. And their skipper Imad Wasim hopes the things finish in their favour.
Gladiators’ head coach Moin Khan intends to use the bench in order to give chances to those youngsters who have not yet been utilised or have been given few chances.
“Naturally we will try the bench and give chances to those who have not yet played,” Moin said. “Now there is nothing left for us in the tournament and I hope the youngsters will benefit from the opportunity,” he added.
