Our parliamentarians used abusive language and threw budget copies at each other during a National Assembly (NA) session. Unfortunately, it has become quite common to see our elected members using harsh language against their opponents. A few days ago, two politicians got into an ugly fight on TV. Such acts are presenting a bad image of the country to the world. The National Assembly is a sacred place where the future of the country is decided. If these practices continue, they will pollute the minds of our future generation. Violence and indiscipline don’t have any place on the floor of the NA. There are certain rules that all politicians have to follow inside the assembly. Disagreements on and objections to the policies of the ruling party can be countered with logical arguments. This is the principle of democracy. In civilised countries, political leaders carry out debates to solve the problems. We only resort to violence when we don’t have a logical or valid argument.
