KARACHI: After losing to Peshawar Zalmi because of miserable batting and bowling, defending champions Karachi Kings are now in a difficult situation in the HBL PSL-6.

Kings have just six points with two games in hand. They need to win the remaining two outings against Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators if they are to press for a seat in the playoffs.

Kings’ skipper Imad Wasim knows that and says that they are now in a do-or-die situation. “We are in a nothing-to-lose situation and we need to step up,” Imad said after Kings were comprehensively beaten by Zalmi on Tuesday night in a low-scoring game.

“We will go out there and will try our best. Now there is no room for mistakes,” Imad was quick to add.

He admitted that they failed completely in batting. “Yes, we did not play good the last three matches and that was why we lost them. But it’s not the end of the world. We will come back hard as we still have two games to go,” Imad said.

“Zalmi bowled really well, they got three or four wickets in the power-play, our batting was also not too deep, they did not give a chance to us for a comeback,” Imad said.

“Our next game against Lahore is very tough and after that we will play against Quetta,” Imad said.

He said the conditions were slightly difficult for batting. “The conditions were slightly difficult as ball got seam and swing was also seen. I think it was not the wicket we were used to,” he said.

Following a series of poor stints, Imad was finally seen regaining some confidence as he not only spent some time at the crease but also got a couple of wickets in a single over, including that of Zazai.

“Yes, it was important for me to regain confidence. The confidence came from taking wickets and staying at the wicket for some time. And next I will try to lead from the front because we need to step up,” Imad said.

Kings will face Lahore on Thursday (today) and meet Quetta on Saturday. In the last event, Kings had beaten Lahore Qalandars to win the PSL trophy for the first time.
