Moot on Arts, Humanities opens
LAHORE:The first two-day international virtual conference by Punjab University’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities titled “Emerging Trends in the Arts and Humanities” started on Tuesday.
The conference comprises 14 sessions and 89 research presentations. Nine eminent global scholars from the US, Canada, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, UK and Turkey will be presenting their keynote speeches.
PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar is the patron in chief of the conference. Pro-VC Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar highlighted the significance of the Arts and Humanities in restoring a possible imbalance caused by excessive exposure to science and technology in this day and age. The conference is aimed at highlighting the qualitative contribution to the human growth and progress achieved through the pursuit of disciplines such as philosophy, archaeology, history, English, French, South Asian and Pakistan studies as well as sports education and fine arts, said Faculty of Arts and Humanities Dean Prof Dr Amra Raza said.
