Rs1,235m for Tourism Dept

LAHORE:The government of Punjab has allocated Rs1,235 million for tourism budget for the fiscal year 2021-22. According to details, Rs823.915 million has been allocated for 20 new tourism schemes while for the 14 ongoing schemes Rs429.085 has been allocated.

During budget speech in Punjab Assembly, Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht said that the government has presented an extensive policy for the betterment of our tourism sector. 14 present schemes for tourism includes formation of theme based food courts, arts and craft shops, different activities like zip lining, wall climbing, walkways, upgradation of cable cars and chairlifts and many others in Patriata, Kotli Sattian and Narar Kahuta. 20 New schemes to be introduced include land acquisition for tourism at different areas of North Punjab, development of conference halls, auditoriums, restaurants, medical centers, landscaping, rides and entertainment parks including many others.

In South Punjab, Rs315.916 million has been allocated for tourism. Rs3.166 million will be spent on three ongoing schemes while Rs315.916 would be spent on eight new schemes in south Punjab. In Koh-e-Suleman Parkway Dera Ghazi Khan, Rs2.023 million will be spent and Rs0.500 million on Construction of Resort at Derawar Fort Cholistan Bahawalpur has been allocated. Furthermore, Rs0.634 million has been allocated for Capacity Building of Department of Tourist Services Punjab.
