PPP to mobilise workers for LG polls in KP
PESHAWAR: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has decided to mobilise party organisations for the local government elections and resist the ‘IMF-prepared’ anti-people budget.
Chairing a meeting of the party here on Friday, PPP KP president Humayun Khan discussed the prevailing political situation and decided to mobilise the party for the next local government elections.
The newly elected office-bearers including general secretary Shuja Khan, secretary information, Amjad Afridi, deputy general secretary, Malik Tahmash Khan, deputy secretary information, Salim Khan and Tahir Abbas Khan attended the meeting. The meeting directed the workers to make proper preparations for local bodies’ elections and start contacting the people.
Speaking on the occasion, Humayun Khan said that the price-hike had made the lives of people miserable and unnecessary restrictions on traders had multiplied their problems. He said the PPP would not leave the traders alone and support them against the wrong policies of the government.
Amjad Afridi said that the so-called champions of bringing change and reforms had made the lives of labourers, farmers, traders and people difficult. He said the PPP would not accept the wrong and anti-people policies of the sitting rulers. He said the inefficient rulers had deprived common people of livelihood opportunities.
Shuja Khan said the government would not be able to prevent the infuriated people from staging protests if the ongoing loadshedding was not stopped. He said the ‘IMF-prepared’ budget would add to the woes of the people, saying the performance of the PTI government was visible on social media only.
