No corruption scandal in PTI tenure: CM Usman Buzdar
LAHORE:Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said on Wednesday that the country was moving towards the destination of new Pakistan and the development schemes were a unique example of quality and transparency.
In a statement, he said that negative politics espoused by the PDM could not succeed in new Pakistan. He said the journey of development was underway despite havoc wreaked with the country in the past.
It was satisfying that the country was moving forward with renewed commitment and corruption-free governance, as well as development schemes, have become the conspicuous symbols of the incumbent government, he added. There was no corruption scandal and two and a half years’ tenure was most transparent as compared to the previous three decades, the chief minister said. Everyday begun with a new corruption scandal and the people still remember the corruption stories of the past, he regretted. Past rulers were reaping what they had sown as the resources were mercilessly looted in the past but the PTI had done away with this negative culture and there was no room for any corruption in the politics now, he added.
Corona situation: The chief minister said the situation of coronavirus was improving due to effective measures taken by the government. In a statement, the chief minister asked the citizens to vaccinate themselves and avoid rumours as vaccine against corona was safe. Meanwhile, the government has set up a network of vaccination centres in every district, he said and congratulated the National Command Operation Centre (NCOC) for vaccinating 10 million citizens. Despite opposition’s politicisation, the government has achieved this milestone and regrettably, the opposition’s role remained contrary to the national interest as it did not refrain from using the pandemic for politics, he said. The PTI government has achieved success while the opposition faced defeat, he added. The Punjab government conducted the maximum number of tests and its vaccination drive was also faster than other provinces, he mentioned and added there was no option except winning the fight against corona and the government would achieve the vaccination target.
ANTI-DENGUE CAMPAIGN: The chief minister has directed to run an anti-dengue campaign across the province and the administration and health department should take necessary steps in this regard.
In a statement issue here on Wednesday, the chief minister directed the Commissioners and DCs to personally monitor the drive to ensure strict compliance on anti-dengue strategy. The officials concerned should ensure their availability in the field, he said and added that he would personally monitor anti-dengue measures.
The CM made it clear that “all is good” mantra would not work and every anti-dengue activity would be fully inspected. The activities will be monitored daily as there was no room for any negligence in this regard, he added.
