PSL to help prepare for series against Pakistan: Hetmyer
KARACHI: Multan Sultans’ West Indian hard-hitting young left-handed batsman Shimron Hetmyer has said that the PSL Abu Dhabi leg will help him prepare for his national team’s home series against Pakistan later this year.
“It will help,” Hetmyer told a virtual news conference in lead up to the PSL-6 which is set to resume at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi from June 9.
“I am looking forward to see and read Pakistan’s bowlers in particular and see at which pace they bowl and what they do. During the home series I will have an idea how fast the bowlers are and it will help prepare well,” said Hetmyer, the youngest batsman to score a century in the Carribean Premier League (CPL) in 2018.
Pakistan, during their July-August tour to the West Indies, will play five T20Is and two Tests with the first T20I to be held on July 27 at Kensington Oval, Barbados.
“I am excited to go out and see how it goes and to see the feelings around the PSL and will try to enjoy the PSL,” said Hetmyer, who was yet to use his bat since arriving in the UAE as he ended his quarantine Saturday night.
“So far I have done nothing. I got out of the quarantine last night and have not yet got the chance to really hit the ground. We have a practice session this evening so I really plan to go out there and enjoy it. I will try my level best to play good cricket and let’s see how much we can help Multan,” Hetmyer added.
“For us we really enjoy playing T20 cricket. As is my preparation I will do as much as I can and I will do my best in terms of how I negotiate the ball,” added Hetmyer, who has played 16 Tests, 45 ODIs and 27 T20I for the West Indies.
