The Sarwar Raod police on Saturday submitted a challan against pilot Asmat Mehmood declaring him guilty of crash landing under the influence and jeopardising lives of passengers.

The prosecution department has forwarded the challan to the admin court of anti-terrorism courts from where the case will be allocated an ATC court for trial on December 30. According to the challan, police declared Asmat Mehmood guilty of crash landing in a drunken state. It said air traffic control had directed the pilot to start landing from 3,000 feet which is standard height for landing but the pilot ignored the directions and kept on landing from 5000 feet which caused crash landing. Moreover, the medical report of the pilot revealed that alcohol level in his blood of pilot was much higher than permissible or concentration level for pilots. Furthermore, the pilot was also carrying alcohol with him. The police said that due to the crash landing many passengers received injuries and it could have also hurt people at the airport and in the landing area.
